Testing

Aspen Health offers standard testing as well as many functional medicine tests including comprehensive stool testing, food sensitivity testing, comprehensive cardio-metabolic testing, and many others. Below are a few of the unique and popular tests available at Aspen Health.

 CIMT

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) testing is a simple non-invasive tool that assesses overall cardiovascular health by measuring the thickness and quality of atherosclerotic plaque using B-mode ultrasound.

Why CIMT?

  • More than 50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have no warning signs or symptoms

  • 50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have normal cholesterol

  • CIMT testing caught 98.6% of heart attacks and strokes before they occurred in a 10-year, 100,000 person-year study

  • Over 14,000 peer-reviewed journal articles support the use of CIMT testing

  • CIMT testing is more accurate and a better predictor of future events than are the carotid duplex (Life Line Screening), stress echocardiogram, angiogram, and nuclear stress tests

 TruAge Epigenetic Test

The TruAge epigenetic test is designed to help individuals understand their aging process. The results show how old you really are on the cellular level. The test tells you your biological age, rate of aging, and age of 11 key organ systems by looking at 75+ biomarkers. By routinely taking the test, you can measure the impact of lifestyle changes you make to improve your epigenetic health.

What is Epigenetics?

Epigenetics is the connection between your genes and your environment. It is what your body uses to change how your genes work without changing the DNA itself (like turning on or off a lightbulb).

Why TruAge?

TruAge is the most advanced test for measuring biological aging and uses the best algorithms for epigenetic age. It is the most precise, most predictive biological aging test and responds positively to lifestyle interventions, helping us measure the benefits of your efforts to slow down your aging.

Micronutrient Panel

A micronutrient panel is ordered to assess nutrient status. Micronutrients include vitamins, minerals, co-factors, amino acids, metabolites, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. These nutrients are found in small amounts in foods and are essential for human health. This unique test panel (listed below) includes both intracellular and extracellular levels for a more complete and accurate view of your nutrient status, helping to reveal evidence of root causes of your illness and to help optimize nutrient intake.

Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test

Only 5 cancers out of more than 100 types are routinely screened for today and 71% of cancer deaths are caused by cancers without recommended screening.

The Galleri® test detects cancer signals across more than 50 cancer types, most of which do not have current guideline-recommended screenings.

Detecting more types of cancer at an earlier stage allows for earlier and more effective treatment, including lifestyle medicine strategies.

The Galleri® test has a 99.5% specificity and an 89% cancer signal origin accuracy, meaning the results can point to where in the body the cancer is coming from with high accuracy.

The Galleri® test is performed via a simple blood draw and is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older.
